DescriptionSecret Lair Games, Inc. builds online worlds. Its first is The Imperial Realm::Miranda, an old school fast-action base-building resource-collecting sci-fi RTS you can play with your friends, and their friends, and their friends, and their friends...
Robert Basler released his first game, Space Mines, in 1981. It was built for the Ohio Scientific Superboard II and featured spectacular 80x25 black and white ASCII art and frenetic gameplay. Later, Robert worked on the multiplayer tech for 32 Electronic Arts titles for the PSP, the Nintendo Wii and PC including big-name franchises like Medal of Honor, Need for Speed, FIFA Soccer and Madden NFL Football. The Imperial Realm::Miranda
Rob spent many evenings playing Command and Conquer Red Alert 2 multiplayer LAN games with his friends, but over the years they all moved to distant cities. When World of Warcraft came out, he had the idea of bringing the group back together by combining massively multiplayer gameplay with the frenetic strategy and action of the RTS genre. In 2009, work started on "MMO-1" as Miranda was known at that time. Over the next six years, work continued on the Lair Engine, quietly building rendering, networking, audio, UI, patching, accounting, tools, gameplay and a hundred other systems. His progress was documented on his blog "The One Man MMO Project." The first screenshots of The Imperial Realm::Miranda were released in 2013. Private testing of the game started in June 2015. Public testing of the game started November 2016.
